Medical Assistant.
(A medical assistant is assigned to each physician and is required to assist their physician with each patient.
)
Responsibilities:
ASSISTING PATIENTS TO THE EXAM ROOMo Call the patient back to the pod, obtain vitals:
weight, height, pulse, blood pressure and respirations, and record in the EMR.

o Ask the patient if they need any prescriptions refilled or if they have had any outside scans or lab work, visits to the ER or other doctor's offices since their last appointment.
Verify this information is available in EMR if not obtain from facility and scan in EMRo Verify Allergieso Complete MA rooming note verifying all information is current.
o Complete medication reconciliation:
verify each medication is current with accurate doses and frequency.
Add any new medications with appropriate doses.
Discontinue any medications as appropriate.
The medication list is used by providers and staff to refill scripts, it very important that the list is accurate and up to date.
o Under demographics check for preferred pharmacy, providers and emails.
o Verify patient is signed up for patient portalo Once MA rooming note is signed room the patientPREPARING CHARTS FOR THE FOLLOWING DAYo Each chart is checked the day before the visit.
o All current scans and outside procedure notes should be available in the EMRo Review the doctor's schedule and check to make sure the patient has the appropriate lab work ordered for the following day.
o It is always the MA's responsibility to have complete records on each patient.
PREPARING FOR CONSULTSo The schedulers take the initial consult information and request the records from the referring office.
After the initial request it is then the MA's responsibility to follow up and make sure that the appropriate information is available for the physician.
All prior scans, pathology results, office notes, and lab work should be available review the day before the appointment.
(In the event that the records are not available this should be communicated with the physician prior to the consult's appointment.
)o It is always the MA's responsibility to have complete records on each patient.
EXAM ROOM PROCEDURESo MA's are also required to assist in any procedure with the physician.
STOCKING AND CLEANING EXAM ROOMSo Clean each exam table after each patient.
o At the end of the day all exam rooms should be cleaned and stocked, i.
e.
order sheets replaced (hospital, chemotherapy, etc.
); gloves and other supplies should be full and ready for the next day.
MISSED APPOINTMENT OR NO-SHOWSIf a patient no shows cancel the appointment and add a No Show activity to the schedule send a no show letter.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
